Administrators can edit or delete existing Maintenance Types to standardize classifications or remove retired categories. Because active work orders rely on these types for organization, Aetos utilizes safety checks that prevent the deletion of any type currently assigned to unfinished tickets.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Path A: Edit a Maintenance Type
Click on Settings in the left navigation sidebar and open the Configurations tab.
Locate your target Maintenance Type in the Sheet Types table.
Click the Edit (pencil) icon on the row to open the inline edit fields.
Rename the type (e.g., change "Emergency" to "Reactive Repair") or adjust its organization default status.
Click the Save (checkmark) icon on the row. The row updates, and the name change immediately propagates across all active and historical work orders.
Path B: Delete a Maintenance Type
Click on the Delete (trash) icon next to the target row on the configurations page.
Click Confirm on the warning prompt.
The Active Records Gate:
If active work orders exist: A warning toast will appear: "Cannot delete. This type is currently assigned to active work orders." The deletion is blocked to prevent breaking active backlog reporting. You must first reassign those active work orders to a different type before returning to delete this category.
If no active work orders exist: The row is deleted, and the type immediately disappears from your form dropdowns.
