As maintenance schedules or operational needs change, active work orders may need to be updated. This procedure allows administrators to adjust descriptions, modify checklist steps, reassign technicians, or change scheduled due dates on an active ticket.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Navigate to the Work Orders page from the left navigation sidebar.
Select your target work order from the table to open its detail panel.
Click the More actions button (⋯) in the top-right corner of the panel and select Edit. This opens the edit form for the work order.
Modify the target fields:
Scope & Details: Update the title, description text, priority level, or linked assets.
Manage Tasks & Sections: Edit checklist instructions, click and drag tasks to reorder them, click Add Task to append steps, or click the trash icon to delete steps.
Adjust Assignments: Multi-select or remove names in the Assignees and Supervisors dropdowns.
Dates: Update the Scheduled At and Due At calendar pickers.
Click the SAVE button in the bottom edit bar.
A green success banner confirms the work order was updated, and you will be returned to the details panel.
Troubleshooting & Critical Notes
Location Changes Blocked: If a technician has already moved the work order status to In Progress, the Location field becomes locked and cannot be changed to prevent breaking active checklist submissions.
Recurring Series Warnings: If you are editing an occurrence that is part of a recurring schedule, updating dates or tasks will prompt a dialog asking if you want to apply edits to This Occurrence Only or the Entire Future Series.
