Asset Tags are virtual pins anchored directly onto physical equipment inside your 3D scans. Clicking a tag instantly retrieves an asset's manual, specifications, and active work orders.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Open Placement Mode
Navigate to the Assets page from the left navigation sidebar.
Select your target asset from the list and open its Edit form.
Scroll down to the Position card.
Click Place in Scan (or click Update Placement on the per-scan row if the asset already has a tag).
The 3D scan enters placement mode, and a blue instruction banner appears at the top of your dashboard.
Step 2: Anchor the Tag
Move your pointer inside the 3D scan panel. A circular icon (inheriting the asset's system color and classification icon) will glide across physical surfaces.
Aim at your physical equipment and click.
A circular tag immediately anchors to the spot, connected by a thin vertical stem line.
Step 3: Adjust the Stem Length
Often, equipment is nested closely together, and placing a tag directly on its surface might cover other components. You can make the tag float clearly:
Locate the Edit Stem Length slider in your active placement banner.
Click and slide the scale:
Slide Right: Extends the stem length (up to 2 meters) to make the tag float in open corridors or above machinery.
Slide Left: Shortens the stem to anchor the tag closer to the physical surface.
The 3D viewer renders the stem adjustments in real-time.
Step 4: Configure the Saved Viewpoint (Camera Direction)
You can choose the exact camera angle a user sees when they click your tag:
Walk or look around the 3D scan until your camera is facing the equipment from a clear, unobstructed angle.
Click the More actions button (⋯) in the top-right corner of the asset details card.
Select Edit Viewpoint. A instruction banner displays: "Navigate to the desired viewpoint before saving."
Once your camera is positioned, click Save Viewpoint on the banner.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
Once all adjustments are complete, click Save in the bottom edit bar of the asset form.
A green success banner confirms the coordinates were updated, and your adjusted tag immediately renders in the 3D scan.
