Find what you need in the application is fast and straightforward with Universal Search.
Where Is the Search Bar?
The Universal Search bar is accessible from the main navigation sidebar of the application. Look for the magnifying glass icon (🔍) in the left-hand navigation. Clicking it opens Universal Search.
The search input is automatically focused when you start typing.
What You Can Search
Universal Search queries across four primary content types within your organization simultaneously:
Assets — Physical equipment and assets. Searchable fields include name, description, manufacturer, model, serial number, labels, and associated systems.
Work Orders — Work orders and procedures. Searchable fields include name, tracking number, description, priority, status, and individual step names and descriptions.
Training — Courses and training materials. Searchable by course name and description.
Files — Uploaded attachments and documents. Searchable by filename, description, and content type.
How to Use Universal Search
Open the search dialog. Click the search icon in the navigation sidebar. The Universal Search modal will open with the input field automatically focused and ready.
Start typing your query. Results begin appearing after a brief moment. The application searches across all content types simultaneously — no need to specify what type of content you're looking for upfront.
Filter by content type (optional). Once results appear, filter chips at the top of the list let you narrow results to a specific category: Assets, Work Orders, Training, or Files.
Select a result. Click any result in the list to navigate directly to that item.
Partial Search: Find Results Without the Full Name
You don't need to remember the exact name of what you're looking for. Universal Search uses wildcard matching (your query is matched anywhere within a word or phrase). A few characters are often enough to surface the right result.
For example:
Typing "pum" returns results such as "Pump Maintenance Work Order", "Water Pump Asset", or any file or training course that references "pump".
Typing "insp" returns inspection-related work orders, assets flagged for inspection, and any associated training or files.
Entering a partial tracking number instantly surfaces matching work orders without requiring the full identifier.
Universal Search also supports fuzzy matching, so minor typos and misspellings won't prevent you from finding the right result. The search engine applies automatic fuzziness tolerance, meaning close approximations of a term still return relevant matches.
Quick Access When No Query Is Entered
Opening the search dialog without typing anything displays a Quick Access menu showing your recently accessed and frequently visited items. This allows you to jump back to recent work instantly.
Search Tips
Start with a few characters. Partial queries are usually enough. You likely don't need the full name or number.
Use the content-type filter chips. If you know you're looking for a file or an asset specifically, apply the filter to remove unrelated results.
Scroll down to load more. Results load incrementally as you scroll, so if your item isn't visible at first, keep scrolling.
Don't worry about typos. Fuzzy matching automatically handles minor spelling errors and still returns the most relevant results.
